More than 325 investment and other business professionals attended the April 27 event at the Pfister Hotel to hear leading investment managers deliver a solid afternoon of insight.
Investment professionals from three local firms led the program: Daniel J. O’Keefe, managing director of Artisan Partners; Kenneth S. Salmon, vice president, portfolio manager of M&I Investment Management Corp.; and Rick Lane, founder of Broadview Advisors.
Presenting as keynote speaker was William Ackman, CEO and portfolio manager of Pershing Square Capital Management, New York. His remarks at our conference were highly anticipated and drew attendees from Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, and New York.. Since starting Pershing Square Capital Management in 2004, Ackman has registered a 24% annual return and his firm ranks as one of the largest and most successful activist hedge funds. His presentation was well-received and led to many follow-up discussions after the event.
The conference raised $125,000 for Make A Difference and will go a long way towards enabling us to extend our mission to even more schools in the year ahead. It goes without saying that we could not have realized such tremendous success without the participation and time commitment of our entire panel of speakers, the generous sponsorships of M&I Wealth Management, The Business Journal, Godfrey & Kahn, Alpha Investment Consulting Group, R.W. Baird, Baker Tilly, Cortina Asset Management, Generation Growth Capital, Guaranty Bank, Heartland Advisors, MGIC, RBC Wealth Management, PSAV Presentation Services, EnMode Graphic Design, and the Pfister Hotel, as well as the support of all those who attended.
Save the date! The 4th Annual Make A Difference - Wisconsin Investment Conference is scheduled for May 9, 2012 and we’ll soon be announcing an exciting speaker line-up.
